Description

Heron & Willow are excited to welcome John Sadler, author of The Hot Trod: A History Of The Anglo-Scottish Border, to Jedburgh for our June event.

“Sadler’s incredibly deep knowledge of, and affection for, the area in which he grew up shines through and elevates every page of this hugely enjoyable book. This is a rare history book in the sense that you can just drop in and out at will.” – Five Star Review, Scottish Field Magazine.

As usual, the event will be an informal and insightful mix of chat and questions. The event will take place at Heron & Willow Bookshop with doors at 19:00 and the event starting at 19:30. Spaces are free but limited, but you can also order / save a copy of the book if you wish!

John was born and raised on the border, of mixed Anglo-Scottish descent and, from an early age became immersed in the gore-fest that was the Three Hundred Years War. He is extensively published on the subject, has taught at the former Newcastle University Department of Lifelong Learning and its successor the Explore programme for over 25 years. He regularly takes history tour groups around the border region and speaks to museums, libraries and galleries across England and Scotland. He, jointly with Bev Palin runs ‘Time Bandits’ a living history and reenactment group often to be seen in Reiver guise.
